Our story began in August 2020, at a time when the world had come to a standstill. In the middle of the pandemic, we met in the most unexpected way: through Insight Timer, a meditation app. Farhad saw María’s profile and sent her a friend request. What began as a simple conversation quickly became something much more meaningful.
From the very beginning, our connection felt natural and immediate — almost as if we had known each other for years. Respect, patience, acceptance, kindness, and a genuine interest in understanding each other became the foundation of our relationship.
For the first six months, María was in Villa Gesell, Argentina, and Farhad was in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Farhad planned to travel to Argentina in December 2020, but the country’s borders closed just weeks before his trip. Rather than giving up, we found another way. In February 2021, María traveled to the United States, and we finally met in person for the first time.
It did not feel like meeting someone for the first time. It felt more like finally meeting someone we already knew.
The distance and the obstacles taught us an important lesson: when two people truly want to be together, they find a way. Over the years, we discovered how much we enjoy the simple things in life together — traveling, spending time in nature, going to the gym, watching Netflix, romantic dinners, ice cream, dancing to 80s music, talking about our day, and laughing together about things that probably make no sense to anyone else.
Today, we are not only celebrating our wedding. We are celebrating everything that brought us here: an unexpected meeting during a global pandemic, two countries, thousands of miles, many challenges, countless conversations, lots of laughter, and a love that continued to grow through it all.
Most of all, we look forward to continuing to choose each other, every day, and to enjoying whatever comes next — together.
